CONFUSED FLOUR BEETLE, Tribolium confusum



Typically 2-4mm long and reddish brown in colour. Confused flour beetles are severe pests in flour mills and bakeries and can also found in grain and nuts. In heavy infestations they will taint foods and cause flour to turn grey, increasing the likelihood of mould growth.

Advice for Confused Flour Beetle:

Monitor traps are essential along with inspections for trails in dust. They will normally hide from light and insecticide treatment can be made around machines and on the structure of the building.

Hygiene is important and the sealing of cracks and crevices should be adhered to. Any birds nests should be removed and any infested stock should be destroyed or fumigated.
